Coverage begins November 2026

AZ Finest Mixtape covers Arizona Interscholastic Association member school basketball across the Phoenix metro — boys' and girls', 1A through 6A. The season opens in November.

From the first game, this page carries game stories filed the same night, scores and box scores from the official scorer's record, features on teams and student-athletes, and on-the-record interviews with coaches and administrators. Preseason team previews begin in October.

How we cover it

This is high school — and we cover it that way

Roughly five percent of high school athletes compete at the next level. The other ninety-five are why the season matters. Our coverage is built around teamwork, skill building, athletics as an extension of the classroom, and students playing a game they love with their friends.

Every roster spot

We report on the last player off the bench with the same care as the leading scorer. No star ratings, no prospect grades, no ranking a teenager against their classmates.

Member schools, in season

Our beat is AIA member school competition. Club, showcase and out-of-state circuit events are outside what we publish here.

Edited, sourced, on the record

Every story passes through a named editor before publication, quotes real coaches and administrators, and carries a correction if we get something wrong.
